Wakesurfing is one of the most kid-friendly tow sports — slow, close to the boat, and soft to fall on. A right-sized board and a good wave make it easy for young riders to shine.
Sizing for kids
A kids wakesurf board is shorter and lighter but should still be floaty and stable for the child’s weight. Surf-style shapes are the easiest for kids to catch and hold the wave.
Set them up to succeed
Dial in a clean, well-shaped wave with proper ballast, keep the wakeboard rope & handle short for the initial pull-up, and coach them to stand slowly. Once they feel the push, they can toss the rope back.
Safety for young surfers
Snug, approved kids life jacket, inboard/V-drive boat only, a dedicated spotter, and calm patience. The slow speed and soft water make this a fantastic first tow sport for kids.
